2018 Holiday & Christmas Trends

2018 Holiday & Christmas Trends

It may be hard to believe, but we're already in the prime season to be crafting for the holiday season! As anyone making handmade goods knows, this time of year is not only busy but also competitive! Get ahead of the game by tapping into some of this year's best and brightest trends. We put together this handy guide to put you on the right path to holiday success (with help from the Etsy Holiday Guide).

Midcentury Retro Christmas

With bright colors & bold shapes, designs from the 50s-70s are making a big return. Tap into the fun nostalgia of your favorite stop-motion animated Christmas specials or grandma's kitchen decor that she's kept around for all of these years. Think of motifs like the family station wagon with a tree on top, sleds, and vintage toys & appliances.

Lumberjack Plaid

There's no better time for Lumberjack Plaid than the holidays! This pattern reminds us of our favorite comfy flannel, a warm fire, and a cup of cocoa. Use this pattern as the focal point of a design by creating bold images with it, as an text accent, or a staging element when photographing your newest projects. Speaking of which, make sure to check out our blog on 5 Tips for Taking Better Product Photos . If you'd want to tie Lumberjack Plaid into some of the previously mentioned retro themes, think about adding a little Scottie dog motif! These have been a vintage Christmas card theme for years and can make a super cute accent to any item.

Quirky, Fun, Colorful Christmas

Llamas, unicorns, and narwhals OH MY! The holiday season doesn't have to be your traditional hues of red, green, gold, and silver. Use rainbow colors to stand out and have fun! Take all of the magical animals that you've been obsessing over all year and wrap them up in a cozy sweater or Santa hat for a dash of winter fun.
